Morning Skills Group ACT Focus Full
Afternoon Skills Group ACT Focus vacancies
I am a UK trained mental health nurse, specialising in skills-based contextual behavioural therapies (CBT, DBT, and ACT). I am establishing skills-based therapeutic groups from my Pukekohe office. These will benefit those who cannot afford individual therapy, work better in a group environment, and learn well through an experiential approach to learning. The groups offer a mixture of theory, skills to practice within the group and at home, as well as behavioural experiments. I use a range of teaching media within a group environment, including talking, writing, and creative tools (such as mixed-media art and journaling).
I offer two groups on Wednesdays during the school term. One from 11am till 12.30pm and the other from 2pm till 3.30pm One group has an ACT focus: mindfulness, self-compassion, acceptance, values and committed action. The other group has a CBT focus: introduction to cognitive processes, recognising thinking errors, challenging negative thinking patterns, reframing negative thinking and behavioural experiments.
These will be closed groups for people who book in and will be offered on the following basis.
The groups will run during the school term.
There will be 6 to 8 people per group
Each group will run for five weeks on Wednesdays, with a session every week
Participants are expected to commit to attending all five sessions
Each session will be 90 minutes (either in the late morning or early afternoon)
The cost will be $40 per person per session (or an advanced payment of $190 per person for the five weeks)
Participants will need to bring a notebook and an apron (for mixed-media sessions)
All other group materials will be provided
Employers, NGO's and not for profit organisations can book a group and will receive a 5% discount.
